Position Summary
Behind every great performance is the team that gets us there! We are seeking a reliable Volunteer Equipment Driver with their own truck to haul our equipment trailer to rehearsals and competitive events.
As an essential part of our support staff, you will ensure our performance floor, props, and equipment arrive safely and on time. Reporting directly to the Logistics Manager, you’ll be a driving force behind our competitive season, keeping our program moving seamlessly from town to town.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe Transportation: Tow the organization’s equipment trailer safely between storage, rehearsal sites, and competition venues.
- Timely Logistics: Adhere to strict arrival and departure schedules set by the Logistics Manager to ensure equipment is on-site before the performers and floor crew arrive.
- Routine Inspections: Conduct basic pre-trip safety checks on the trailer connection, hitch, safety chains, and lighting connections before hitting the road.
- Loading Coordination: Work alongside the Logistics Manager and Floor Crew Lead to ensure the trailer is packed securely and balanced correctly before transit.
- Expense Tracking: Maintain fuel receipts to submit to the Executive Director for prompt gas reimbursement.
Equipment Requirements
- Vehicle: Must own a reliable, personally insured truck capable of safely towing our enclosed equipment trailer.
- Hitch Setup: Vehicle must be equipped with a functional standard four flat electrical connector.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Towing Experience: Comfort towing enclosed trailers and navigating tight high school parking lots and loading docks.
- Clean Driving Record: Valid driver’s license and a safe driving history.
- Reliability & Punctuality: A strong commitment to schedules; the entire team relies on the trailer arriving on time.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to coordinate routes and arrival updates with the logistics team.
Time Commitment
This is a seasonal volunteer position running from January through April.
- Weekend commitments corresponding with our competitive travel schedule (primarily Saturdays, with occasional full-weekend or overnight travel for major regional events).
- Occasional coordinate trips to Move-Ins or weekend rehearsal camps as needed.
